About Tradicionale

Tradicionale is a modern Filipino-Spanish bistro and bar in Chelsea, NYC, created by AJC Hospitality. Building on the team’s fast-casual roots at Tradisyon, it offers a soulful design-forward dining experience that blends Filipino heritage, Spanish influence and New York’s energy. A third space, where centuries of flavor meets the city’s rhythm. Tradicionale is for the tastemakers, creatives and food lovers to share plates for a cozy date night or a large celebration. Made with intention; Cocktails with a story; Stay a little longer than expected.

Located at 156 9th Ave, New York, NY 10011, Tradicionale operates as a filipino restaurant serving New York in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in New York peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I’m usually skeptical when it comes to high-end or elevated Filipino food, but Tradicionale absolutely hits the spot. Right from the drinks, they bring in familiar Filipino flavors with classics like mango and calamansi juice. We started with the chicken lumpia, and it was literally how lumpia should be: crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. What really amazed me, though, were the longganisa and Berkshire pork tocino. Both took familiar Filipino comfort food and elevated it without losing the flavors that make them special. The Berkshire pork tocino was incredibly flavorful, tender, and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. We went for Sunday brunch, so the menu was a little limited, but what we tried definitely made me want to come back and explore more of their menu. I highly recommend Tradicionale if you’re looking for authentic Filipino cuisine with a creative, elevated twist. πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

Tradicionale was such a pleasant surprise. The space feels refined and elevated, but the food remains unmistakably Filipino at heart. No unnecessary reinvention, no trying too hard to be something else β€” just familiar, comforting dishes prepared with care and served in a sophisticated setting. The interiors are beautiful β€” thoughtfully designed and elegant, without feeling intimidating. What I loved most, however, was that despite the refinement, the space still felt warm and familiar. The furniture had a nostalgic quality to it, comfortable and lived-in, as though it had been part of a Filipino family home for generations. It immediately brought to mind lunches at my grandmother’s house β€” the kind where we would stay at the table long after the meal was over. Walking in, you might expect a menu filled with modern interpretations and complicated techniques. Instead, what we got was something much more familiar and truly Filipino β€” comforting, recognizable, and deeply rooted in the flavors I grew up with. I especially loved the Kare-Kare, the Trout Laing, the Lobster Palabok, the Chicken Lumpia, and the Ube Bibingka. I wouldn’t mind coming back for these dishes β€” they were delici

Had dinner there. The callos were divine! Service was excellent and we had a great time. Can’t go wrong with crispy pata! We ordered too much for two people but enjoyed the food. Didn’t have room for dessert. Ordered the calamansi drink too which was just okay. They didn’t have Coke Zero. Our bill was $141 (with no tip).

Tradicinale's vibe was not like traditional Filipino. It was upscaled but still focused on the family style portions. It is highly recommend to reserve a table. Everyone was very attentive and made us feel at home. Sisig was the most Tapa ordered. We ordered the Pork Sisig Tapa as a meal with garlic rice and added spicy vinegar. This was my favorite dish but it was spicy which I didn't mind but some others in my party was not able to enjoy it. The Thai chili peppers was not on the description nor did it have a spicy warning on it. Pancit was a clear favorite in the group. The only complaint is that there could've been more noodles but it was also consided a Tapa. The drink were great. For desert there were not to many options. We tried ube and salted egg Bibingka which were good. I hope they add Leche flan in the future. I do recommend this restaurant any group size and recommend the Sisig and Pancit.

We had an amazing experience at Tradicionale New York! We decided to try this newer restaurant for a party of six, and from the moment we walked in, everything exceeded our expectations. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating β€” we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our server greeted us warmly and gave us a heads-up that the restaurant would get busy, but reassured us we’d be well taken care of β€” and they absolutely delivered on that. Drinks came out quickly, and the service stayed attentive throughout the night. To start, we ordered the dinuguan tacos and baby octopus adobo, and right away we knew we were in for something special. The ceviche was another standout, with spices that came together in perfect harmony. We moved on to more traditional dishes like kare-kare and garlic fried rice, which were both incredible. The mushroom croquetas were such a unique and delicious surprise, and the Filipino roasted chicken was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. And dessert β€” wow. The ube flavors were unforgettable. The ice cream was amazing, and they even brought out a candle for a birthday celebration on the ube bibingka, which was beautifully presented and ta
